Cachoeira - meaning waterfall in Portuguese - is a dance music video for music by Aukai, a project of ambient soundscapes created by composer, musician, and producer Markus Sieber. Bringing together outstanding instrumentalists to collaborate on music that could work in tandem with the film, dance, theater, and the visual arts.

Cachoeira explores the nature and force of a waterfall in 3 takes of dance improvisation by Carlos Luis Blanco Ramos, who is the major dancers of the National Contemporary Dance Company of Cuba. Markus shot the video together with Osvaldo Angulo in an old theater ruin in Havanna in November 2015. The waterfall footage was filmed later during one of Markus' travels to Iceland. The post-production was done by Matyas Kelemen, NYC.

Aukai was born of composer/instrumentalist Markus Sieber’s desire to create music that could work in tandem with film, video, theatre, and the visual arts. 2018 saw the release of his latest album ‘Branches Of Sun’. The compositions on the album also grew out of Sieber’s love affair with the ‘Ronroco’, a plucked string instrument from Argentina.

Like every musician, Markus Sieber is used to going the extra mile to make the music he hears in his head and feels in his heart. There aren’t many, however, who would – or indeed, could – get to work in the mornings by strolling across a frozen lake before settling in a small cabin high up in the mountains located close to the Old Spanish Trail in Colorado where he had set up a home studio. For most of an entire month, though, he’d begin his day by pressing “Record’, and end it by pressing ‘Stop’. The world outside barely existed.
