Oxum

Oshun (known as Ochún or Oxúm in Latin America) is an orisha, a spirit, a deity, or a goddess that reflects one of the manifestations of God in the Ifá and Yoruba religions. She is one of the most popular and venerated orishas. Oxum is the deity of the river and fresh water, luxury and pleasure, sexuality and fertility, and beauty and love. She is connected to destiny and divination.

During the life of the mortal Oxum, she served as princess consort to King Shango of Oyo.
Following her posthumous deification, she was admitted to the Yoruba pantheon as an aspect of a primordial divinity of the same name.

According to the Ifa Literary Corpus in Ose Otura, Ọxum was the only female Irunmole (primordial spirit) sent to create the world by Olodumare. The other spirits that were sent began the work and ignored Ọxum. Ọxum gathered the women together and protested the blatant disrespect by forming Iyami Aje, a band of women endowed with special powers.

Secada combines her skills as a Dancer, Songwriter, Couture Costume Designer, Vocalist, and Choreographer to produce breathtaking art activism projects. Known for her dark cinematic Afro-Bass soundscapes, gravity-defying Capoeira infused dance and otherworldly couture costumes. Secada tours internationally performing, teaching and creating.

Amy Secada has directed Kinetic Junglist Movement, a Neo-Ritual performance troupe since 2004 and curated the legendary Urban Roots Project Art Festival held in NYC 2006-2011. Her work has been presented in over 20 countries and she has danced for Nike Women, Hershey's, Madonna, Fergie and choreographed for America's Best Dance Crew. 

Co-directed by Amy Secada and Daniel Garcia, the video was shot on location at Yosemite National Park in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains.
